Cultural Heritage Planning

American Beach Neighborhood Planning and Cultural Heritage Plan

Cultural heritage planning experience includes work with American Beach in Nassau County, FL. American Beach is a historically African American beach community established in 1935. Efforts included facilitating strategic planning in order to identify strategies to protect and highlight the historic character of the community, as determined by the neighborhood in a community-driven process. In addition, we were a part of a multidisciplinary team that produced the American Beach Cultural Heritage Experience Enhancement Initiative master plan. Most recently, we have been working with the American Beach community around rehabilitation of the historic Evans’ Rendezvous restaurant and cultural site and planning for the historic Crossroads intersection.

We have additionally served as a subconsultant to Collabo Planning + Design for Choice neighborhood projects in Gainesvillle, FL and New Orleans, LA. Our role is to assist with engagement and outreach efforts as well as participate in cultural heritage research and historic preservation consultation.

Extensive and meaningful community engagement is a part of all cultural heritage planning efforts.
